Otley Road and Adel Lane housing plan ‘needs road improvements’

Road improvements to reduce the speed of traffic and rat-running are needed if plans for a major new housing development are to get the green light, councillors have said.

Members of the South and West Plans Panel said proposals for 121 units – mainly semi-detached and detached houses with 20 flats in two blocks – at the  Department For Work and Pensions site off Otley Road were broadly welcome given the site’s favoured ‘brownfield’ status. Continue reading

Proposals for a new primary school on the site of the former South Leeds Sports Centre must include enough parking spaces for staff to avoid problems for local residents, councillors have said.

Members of the south and west plans panel heard initial proposals for the 420-pupil primary school and 26-place nursery off Beeston Road at a pre-application hearing at the Civic Hall today.  Continue reading

Hunslet McDonald’s gets nod for 24-hour opening

Leeds planners today approved fast food chain McDonald’s bid to open 24 hours a day at its branch off Low Road, Hunslet.

The restaurant currently opens 5am to midnight Sundays to Wednesdays and 5am to 1am Thursday to Saturdays. Continue reading
